Hi, my name is Hailey. On 12/18, I took my dog, Iona, to the vet because she had been having some blood in her stool and had a very hard spot on her stomach. Once at the vet, she was given an ultrasound that showed she had a very large mass on her spleen. The vet explained to me that masses like this have about a 50% chance of being cancerous. The vet also explained that if it is cancerous, it is likely a very aggressive kind of cancer, so she would like to order X-rays to see if it has spread. If it has, it will confirm the suspicions of cancer and will also tell us how advanced it is, and if it is possible to operate. X-rays are about 350 dollars. The other part about her mass is for her size, it is very big, meaning it has a lot of blood supply. This puts Iona at risk for the mass rupturing, and cancerous or not, this could cause her to internally bleed, so she is on a pill that manages bleeding. A week's supply is 36 dollars. I'm just asking for help to keep my pup comfy in whatever way I can. I would like to cremate her if I do end up having to put her down. Anything helps.
update: Iona passed away in the early hours of January 19th at the veterinary emergency group of austin surrounded by so much love. she went peacefully. she was tired. she will be cremated and live in a very special part of my house. thank you so much, again, for everyone that donated.
