HSHR Vet Bills

As many of you know, we’ve had our wonderful vets out this week for a follow-up with our sweet Jenny, along with a few unexpected consultations for some of our other residents.

Jenny’s latest blood tests showed a slight decline in her liver function. It does mean she’ll need to continue on her liver tonic for another month—and now she’ll also need a course of steroids to help heal the liver damage. We’ll retest in a month to see if the treatment is helping.

Just last month, Jenny’s vet bill was already £350. With the new round of bloods, an additional bottle of liver tonic, and her new medication, we’re looking at around £600 in additional costs.

On top of that, our little Tinkerbell had her bloods confirmed she has Cushing’s. She’s now starting on Prascend—a daily medication she’ll need going forward—adding yet another unplanned cost.

We always promise to give every horse in our care the very best, no matter what. Their health and comfort will always come first. But as a small rescue that runs solely on fundraising and donations, we can’t do this without you.
