Hi everyone,
I’m starting this GoFundMe for my grandparents’ dog, Mia. She’s in critical condition and fighting for her life right now. Mia means everything to my grandpa. she’s his daily routine, his best friend, and what keeps him going every day. My grandpa doesn’t work.. he’s diabetic and she’s his service dog , and my grandma is the only one bringing in income, so this unexpected emergency has hit them really hard.
On Tuesday, Mia suddenly became very weak and wouldn’t eat. At first, we thought it might’ve been a reaction to her flea treatment, but the vet said it wasn’t likely. Things got worse quickly, and we had to rush her to the emergency vet on Wednesday. As soon as we arrived, the staff ran out to take her back that’s how serious it was.
The vet told us if we hadn’t brought her in when we did, she probably wouldn’t have made it through the day. They discovered she’s suffering from severe anemia, and her immune system is attacking her own red blood cells. She’s already had a blood transfusion, which helped a little, but she’s still in the ICU and not out of danger yet. Her red blood cell count went from 9 to 28 (normal is above 35), and they have to check her blood every two hours. If it drops again, she’ll need another transfusion.
The emergency visit alone cost $600 upfront, and the ongoing care, tests, and transfusions are now expected to cost over $7,000. My grandparents love Mia deeply and are doing everything they can to save her, but they can’t afford this on their own.
If you can donate anything… even just a few dollars it would mean the world to my grandparents and help give Mia a fighting chance. She’s family, and we’re praying she pulls through.
Thank you for reading, sharing, or donating. ❤️
