ZACHATTACK UPDATE!!

**Update**

Zachs bone marrow is clear!!!!!! He began his chemo treatments this week. He is feeling terrible but this news we just got has lifted all our spirits… so this is the time to really kick some ass! Zach can and will beat this!!! A huge, thank you to everyone that is donated. Zach and his family have been astonished at the outpour of love and support that they have been given please share, share, share this with any and everyone! Today is a good day, and there is much to be thankful for.

Hi my name is Carolyn and I am starting this fundraiser with my son Joseph and fellow Elwood friend/mom Courtney for an amazing young man named Zach Berger. For those of you that don’t know this amazing family, Zach is blessed with two wonderful parents David and Dinah, who are going through something unimaginable. Dinah is a lifelong Elwood resident, who is a single mom raising Zach and his older sister Katrina, a John Glenn graduate. Zach was diagnosed this past week with Ewing Sarcoma . For those of you who are not familiar with it, it is a rare, aggressive, pediatric bone cancer. From what we know now it is localized to one area. Anyone that knows Zach would agree, he is a one-of-a-kind young man. A gentleman, smart, kind, helpful, funny, athletic and healthy. So needless to say this has really come as a shock. Everyone that knows and loves Zach knows how strong he is, and if anyone will beat this, he will!

Zach is entering his senior year at John Glenn high school. Unfortunately, Zach will not be able to participate in his beloved sports, which include Football and Wrestling. I am pretty confident he will continue his Honor Roll status though :)

We are asking for donations to help offset medical costs, and financial strains that will be placed on his family. Dinah will need to take time off of work in order to bring Zack back-and-forth to Sloan Kettering in NYC for his chemotherapy treatments, and endless doctor appointments.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated and more importantly, please keep Zach and his family in your prayers. I want to thank you all in advance for being Elwood Strong! Now its time to come together as the tight knit, supportive community that I know we are.. and support this amazing young man.. and help him kick some ass!!!
