Helping Little Lorenzo the Warrior

My name is Dana LouBriel, and I am the proud mother of my baby boy Lorenzo. Heres my story........I was a very high risk pregnancy and had complications so I was put on best rest at 7 months. My sons father also decided to walk out during this difficult time, so I was and am, on this road alone. Lorenzo was born on 9/27/2014 at 10:30am by c-section. To my surprise, he was born with many unforseen problems and defects. Lorenzo did not have nose holes to breath, his ephsophgis was not conected to his stomach so he couldn't swallow, his heart had two holes and the veins were are connected in the wrong places mixing his blood to his body, his left ear was not formed correctly, his right hand has an extra thumb and his brain is on the smaller side of normal and he has a hemi vertibrate spine. I had all the genetic testing while pregnant and everything was normal! So far Lorenzo has had several surgeries at Yale New Haven Hospital, but I decided to get a second opinion at Boston Children's Hospital. Currently in Boston. He is in surgery as I right our story and needs a few more. We will be here a long time. I have been alone thru this process...never once leaving my sons side. I had no choice but to leave a career I loved that provided me and my children's needs financially as a single mother. My hole life has changed. I have had to make unbelievable sacrifices and I have had to be strong for my sick child even though I am so weak inside going thru this alone. But my Lorenzo is a true blessing and he shows how strong he is as he fights for this life!!! This little guy has my respect because its amazing to see how strong he is and to know that I am his mother makes me strong too! He has touched so many people with his fight and strength! May he continue to inspire those who need it. The medical bills, and all expenses are a lot for me to handle.
