WHO ARE WE
We are an independent student-founded Model United Nations Team which we recently started, however, our school has yet to fund our club. With our determination, sophisticated students, and diplomatic behavior, we plan to visit more Model UN conferences and learn the firsthand knowledge of what the actual UN is like.
We attend High School for Dual Language and Asian Studies which is located in Lower Eastside, Manhattan, NYC. Our school is particularly quite small and this team is one of the few clubs that are not funded by our school. We have sold homemade cookies, brownies, and all sorts of treats to help fundraise for this conference however we still need help covering the necessary expenses.
WHATS OUR PLAN
Our plan is to make sure every student in this team is able to attend conferences despite their financial stability. We all know how much a conference can be starting from just the delegate fees to one's meal plan, and if possible even one's transportation. We don't have a specific goal at the moment for $1700 is a ballpark of what we may need for future conferences.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO TO
Like said before, this team does not receive funding from the school so it is up to us to take responsibility for making sure the money is used wisely. During this current situation with the coronavirus pandemic in New York City, which has forced the New York city & state governments to significantly reduce the budget of all New York public schools, which will have a major impact on funding for after-school programs this year and for the foreseeable future. The city's economy is facing hard times and any extra money in the government's budget is surely going towards expenses directly linked to the efforts to contain the spread of the virus and treat patients, therefore, the school administration doesn't have extra money to give us right now from the school's budget. Like The Broadway Musical, Hamilton once said, "The problem is I got a lot of brains but no polish". The money can help students who may struggle to pay for delegate fees or help the whole team pay for a portion of room and boarding prices which can be unfortunately quite expensive.
HOW CAN YOU HELP
Our goal is to reach at least $1700 to cover the necessary expenses for us to be able to attend these conferences, safely arrive at the locations, and take the transportation needed to come back home. From a single dollar up to however much you can give makes the world's difference. No matter the amount, every single of your donations means the most to us and you will always be thanked and remembered to the minds of the HSDLASMUN team. We gladly appreciate everyone's help.
