Send Lily to IFMA - Thailand
BACKGROUND:
On April 5, Lily competed at the USA Muay Thai Grand Nationals tournament, and was awarded a spot on the youth national team that will represent our great country at the most prestigious Muay Thai tournament in the world, IFMA, that will take place in September in Bangkok, Thailand.
As far as we know, all/most of the team USA members that we will be a part of come from long-standing gyms with elite level coaching and a track record of producing youth and adult champions. All/most of them all have some sponsors and/or financial backing. We, however, are a humble daddy-daughter team, overcoming all odds and pushing towards the top, on our own terms.
PLANS:
Since we intend to make the journey across the world to compete at the end of Lily's summer break, she is intrigued to experience authentic Muay Thai training in the motherland of the sport, for the weeks leading up to the tournament. Coincidentally, it also just so happens that WBC Muay Thai is organizing a 12-day youth travel and training experience in Thailand in mid-July, that would be an incredible way to kick off the Thailand experience. Afterwards, we would look to setup camp at a local gym for the remaining weeks of August, leading up to the IFMA tournament.
Traveling to Thailand for approximately two months to train, compete, and immerse herself in the Muay Thai culture will be a life-changing experience for Liliana and I. It will allow her to broaden her perspective of the sport and what it means to the people of Thailand. Additionally she will get to experience the challenging training regimens of the toughest fighters in the world, learn and refine her skills from some of the best coaches in the world, and gain invaluable experience at the highest levels of the sport.
OTHER WAYS TO SUPPORT:
We are currently working on putting together fundraising activities for those that may prefer not to donate via this platform.
1) If you like to support local small businesses, jackedjamsllc.com has offered a gift package for any donations to Lily's athlete sponsorship page on that platform. Be sure to check out their small batch jams while you're there!
2) We are looking to create some apparel that will be available for sale, hopefully by May.
3) We are in works to setup a Wai Kru workshop at a beautiful new movement arts studio based in Baltimore. Details to come!
4) We hope to organize a few community sparring events, sometime throughout May & June. Coaches please reach out if you would like to host at your gyms.
5) If any coaches or gym owners are interested, I would like to offer training on some of the specific techniques, protocols, systems, and concepts I utilize to teach children in our community. Contact me directly to inquire.
6) I will continue to offer private lessons during the daytimes, as I already do. Contact me directly to book.
If anyone has a business or ideas for further fundraising activities, please contact me!
