My name is Paola Giron-Carson and I am a Latina honor roll student at Oakland Technical High School where I am the president of the student organization Supporting People of Color Now (SPOCN) which supports people of color in academics. I am in the Health Academy as well and am very interested in medicine and public health. I heard about a program with the Experiment in International Living that takes high school students to India to study their public health and traditional medicine practices. I am passionate about learning about other cultures and health disparities, so when I found an opportunity where I could pursue both of these interests I knew I had to find a way to participate in it. I received financial aid from the program and have saved up money from working, but my family cannot afford the rest.  Thank you so much for considering my request.
