HS senior lost eye in accident & needs your help!

Elisa Joy is a senior in high school. On the morning of April 26, 2020, concerns about whether she would have a graduation ceremony or not due to Covid-19 were top in her thoughts and conversations. But that afternoon, Elisa was injured in a life-changing shooting accident that broke her nose and fractured her orbital and facial bones.

Elisa took her first helicopter flight in less than ideal circumstances: shrapnel had contacted her head,  parts of her face were lacerated, and bones in her skull broken. The hospital in her hometown of Bozeman gave her the best care that they could. They gave her a round of antibiotics and pain management medication before sending her on a medical flight to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, bandaged and bloody, but with hope.

In Salt Lake, the surgeons worked through the night to salvage what they could and prepare her for the best options moving forward. Despite their best efforts, one of Elisa's eyes was beyond saving. The team prepped her socket for a future prosthetic, and the plastic surgeon did a beautiful job on her eyelid.

Thanks to these doctors, Elisa will have the best that modern medicine can provide. She will have more rounds of surgery to repair the structural bones in her face. She will get an eye implant that will allow her to look more like the rest of us.

Elisa Joy will wear eyeshadow again.  She will graduate with the Covid-19 Class of 2020, the seniors who have lived through some of the strangest times. She will have to learn a new way of working, walking, thinking, and being. And the young woman who sent a Snapchat to her friends right after surgery--tongue out and stamped with a heart--will overcome it all with the smile, sweetness, and little-bit-of-sassy her friends know and cherish in her.

Your donation helps so much. You're doing more for her than helping her family pay her exorbitant medical bills; you are funding a future for a young woman who brightens every room she enters. Every little bit counts, and everyone who knows and loves this girl appreciates your generosity! Her parents, Matt and Cari, are so very thankful for any help you can give, even if it is just sharing this campaign.
