A week before Christmas, our world changed in an instant.
Our daughter, Haley, was performing her dream job overseas in Germany, working as a professional circus performer in a trampoline act. During a performance, she landed incorrectly while 14 feet in the air and was thrown 12 feet into the audience. The accident resulted in severe injuries that required immediate emergency care.
Haley suffered:
A dislocated elbow
Fractures in both legs
PCL injuries in both knees
Contusions to her skull and chest
She spent 1 day in the ICU followed by 3 additional days in the hospital. Currently, Haley only has use of one limb and is in casts on the other three. Despite the pain and fear, she has remained incredibly strong and positive.
We are anxious to get her home, as the language barrier has made communicating with doctors extremely difficult. At the same time, Haley is very nervous about the upcoming 10-hour flight. She cannot walk to the restroom or bend her legs, which makes the journey physically and emotionally overwhelming. Still, she is pushing through because she knows she needs to be back in the U.S. to continue her care.
Doctors have instructed Haley to seek immediate medical care when she lands. It is very likely she will need surgery on her legs, followed by extensive recovery, physical therapy, and mobility assistance such as a wheelchair.
Unfortunately, Haley aged off our family insurance in August, and while she does have state insurance, it does not cover medical care in Germany. Her expenses overseas—including hospital care, doctor visits, prescriptions, daily injections to prevent blood clots, casts, and her flight home—have already reached $8,500. These costs will continue to grow once she is back in the U.S.
Haley is unsure when she will be able to work again, and right now her focus needs to be on healing—not worrying about medical bills.
Anyone who knows Haley knows she is one of the sweetest, most hardworking young women you could meet. She was living her dream—traveling the world and bringing joy to others through her performances. This accident took that away in an instant, but with support, she can focus on recovery and rebuilding her future.
Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Every contribution helps relieve the financial burden and gives Haley one less thing to worry about during this long road to recovery.
Thank you so much for your kindness, prayers, and support.
