Funds For Sherman - Animal Lovers Please Help
My beautiful Sherman, the sweetest Wheaton terrier who gives so much joy to everyone he meets, who has introduced me to such wonderful people that have become my dearest of friends all because of him.
Sherman was eating grass but ingested a mix of, what I have never heard of, "Speargrass". It causes extreme pain and reeks havoc in animals once ingested even death!

On June 12, Sherman ended up in the VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital for an endoscopy procedure that found two wads of the stuff. He came home to recover but unfortunately it can migrate, imbed itself later and hide where it cannot be seen unless with a CT. He eventual could not eat, or drink unable to swallow his recovering medicine.
Today they found an abscess where a piece of speargrass imbedded itself, creating a cellulitis infections which had to be lanced and flushed. He is doing well, on IV antibiotics, anti inflammatory, pain, and other meds as he is unable to eat to take pills with such a swollen, sore palette and mouth. He must get these IV meds for the the whole week and then should be able to come home.
So far the cost has come to 3500.00 that includes both procedures, medicines, surgery, and hospital care. His vet has been trying her best to keep costs down for me knowing my situation.
