Hi! My name's Karen and I'm Dave Hyland's sister. Here's his story, and how you can help:

In December 2018, Dave was diagnosed with ARVC, a rare genetic heart condition. After installing a pace maker/defibrillator, Dave was restricted to a less active lifestyle in order to maintain a manageable heart rate. Not easy for someone who has spent their entire life training for the next marathon,triathlon, or long distance bike race.

Over the past 18 months, Dave’s condition worsened and he began to show signs of heart failure. His team of doctors decided a heart transplant was his best option. He was admitted to Northwestern Medicine in Chicago on July 25, and has remained there since awaiting his new shiny healthy heart.

Dave’s wife Colleen and 3 boys Drew (16), Brendan (13), and Conor (9) visit him regularly , but long to have him home ASAP. Any contribution to this fund will benefit them as they navigate this impossible time.

Since I am unable to be in Chicago to help as much as I'd like, this is my small way of contributing to my amazing brother, and his wonderful family. Thank you for considering!
