I’m writing this with a heavy heart.

On January 8, my dad, Vincent Hugh Mousel, passed away after a sudden and traumatic accident. He was just 5 days away from his 64th birthday.

In the days leading up to his passing, he endured severe injuries and critical care in the ICU. Despite the efforts of medical staff, his body could not recover. He passed surrounded by prayer and love.

My dad lived with significant mental health struggles, and while his life was complicated, he was deeply loved. He loved and devoted time praising God through prayer, often spoken out loud. He had a particularly strong devotion to Mary, Mother of God. He always referred to me and Jared as his "only joys" and always offered up his pain and suffering--and his sins and my sins--up "in reparation for all sins committed against Jesus' Immaculate Heart." He fought hard for me before I was even born, fought to keep me and raise me, and also loved his two other non-biological children, my half-bothers, deeply as well. Despite everything, he loved my mother and always adored how "wicked smart" she is, and how fun she is to be around.

He was a father, a grandfather, a marine, and a man who mattered. His suffering has ended, and we entrust him to God’s mercy.

This GoFundMe is to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, remaining medical costs, and to provide some stability for my family as we navigate this sudden loss. Between the trauma care, sacrificing work hours, and end-of-life expenses, the financial burden has been heavier than we anticipated.
