Financial Assistance For Our Father's Recovery

Dear friends and family,

We are reaching out to you today on behalf of our father, Juan, many who know him as Jio, who is currently facing a series of severe medical challenges. We hope to rally support and raise funds to assist him on his path to recovery. He's a loving husband, father of six, father-in-law to four and grandfather to three.

Our Dad has always been known for his vibrant health and athleticism until he contracted COVID-19 in 2021. Due to the COVID aftermath, his blood sugar levels have skyrocketed, leading to critical conditions. Despite the odds, he has managed to overcome these difficult experiences and survive.

Fast forward to just before this Memorial weekend in 2023, and Juan(Jio) is facing another health setback. His blood sugar levels have once again soared, causing him to develop Latent autoimmune diabetes (LADA). The resulting high acidity in his blood has weakened his immune system, making him vulnerable to various infections. Unfortunately, he has recently been diagnosed with a severe skin infection, gall bladder infection, and strep throat infection, all of which have taken a toll on his overall well-being.

These multiple infections caused Juan to experience an alarmingly high fever, early signs of sepsis, and excruciating pain throughout his body. He was promptly transferred to the hospital, where medical professionals have been working tirelessly to stabilize his condition. Throughout his hospital stay, he has undergone a variety of tests, including CAT scans, sonograms, EKGs, heart MRIs, and TEE - echo examinations. Continuous blood tests and monitoring have been crucial in monitoring his progress.

The latest development in Juan's medical journey occurred last Friday when a TEE examination was performed. The results were concerning, as it revealed that he has a leaky heart valve. As a result, Juan will not be able to return home just yet, as he is scheduled for a catheterization procedure on Tuesday which will determine if they will instantly repair the valve or if he will have surgery.

As you can imagine, the combination of these health challenges has taken a toll on Juan's personal and professional life. He has missed numerous weeks of work, making it increasingly difficult for him to cover his medical expenses and support his livelihood. In this trying time, we are reaching out to our community to come together and support our dad's journey towards recovery.

We have been told by the doctor that it is a miracle he is alive and still with us. We are praising Jesus confidently knowing that our time here on earth is a gift and we know that only HE can do the final healing. We are grateful to every nurse and doctor who has been attentive and served him during his time in the hospital. A special thank you to the Baptist medical team!
