HELP GIVE HOPE - RAISE BROOKLYN’S SPIRITS & FUNDS FOR MEDICAL CARE:
So close to being home!  On Friday, November 14, 2014 Rebecca was driving Brooklyn home from Lanham, Maryland after recovering from spine surgery when they hit black ice.  The transport truck in front of them was sliding across all lanes blocking traffic as it came to a grinding stop.  Cars crashed, Rebecca being first on scene, bravely helped.  When paramedics arrived they needed to take Brooklyn to the Williamsport General Hospital, where days later, with air ambulance, was taken back to the hospital in Maryland for care.

This is where you come in - Please help give hope to Brooklyn by raising her spirits to know you care by sending healing thoughts and prayers, notes of encouragement and help to support her medical expenses in the United States with your donation.  Your support will help Brooklyn to have hope in recovering yet again, to grow stronger each week, in prayer that she can be home for Christmas.

Brooklyn is 21 years old and lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a difficult to diagnose chronic pain connective tissue disorder.  She has lived with chronic pain issues since she was 8 years old.  Her Mom, Rebecca has been advocating for her care while those in the Ontario healthcare system continuously fail to meet Brooklyn’s needs because they lack awareness and education about her disease which holds them back from being able to provide a treatment or care plan.  It took 9 years to get a diagnosis.  Chronic pain management and EDS is poorly understood in Canada whether for children or adults.  For the past 4 years, Brooklyn has received care in the United States.  She is brave and stoic in her ability to cope.  Brooklyn appreciates that she is a tough patient because of the over 17 different syndromes she lives with.  She is quick to thank healthcare providers every time a kindness is bestowed upon her.  Doctors, nurses, social workers and families in the States have come to love her as an icon of hope because she is the Ambassador of Hope for a charity that her parents started in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.  Countless people living with EDS and chronic pain have been helped because Brooklyn’s voice has been heard through the charity’s work.  Brooklyn has had over 20 major surgeries in the United States.
