I have been traveling in Southeast Asia for a few months and after deciding to visit Vietnam, never expected that something so terrible will happen to me here. I am currently in the city of Nha Trang. Two nights ago I was attacked, robbed and almost raped and killed by a Vietnamese mafia men on the street. It was only 10 p.m. at a park by the beach. I sat down on the bench with a new friend of mine as we were talking another girl came up to us and started a conversation. Next thing I see is another guy running off with my backpack, which has all my valuables in it including my passport, credit cards, money, phone, speaker, jewelry and other things. I started chasing him, but they were too fast and I lost their sight.
Another man came up to me and said he knew where my bag is and where to find these guys. He told me to follow him and I did with hopes that he would actually help me get my stuff back. He started walking me into a dark street, I knew and felt that something was wrong and I started walking away from him. He started violently grabbing me and chasing after me as he was trying to then push me into a taxi cab multiple times. The taxi guy saw me crying for help and didn't even look at me. He was about to drive off as I jumped out of the car and started running. The Vietnamese man wouldn't leave me alone and kept getting more and more violent as he kept grabbing me with anger and screaming into my face to come with him over and over. I started fighting him off as much as I could, I was so scared he was going to do something to me but I felt completely weak and helpless after an hour of trying to escape him as I was screaming for help. Other people were walking by and not a single person did anything to help. I was completely shocked at their ignorance. I screamed in fear to call the police and that this man is harassing me, hurting me and trying to kidnap me. No one did anything... He proceeded to drag me on to a dark place on the beach where there was not a single person around and tried to push me on the ground while chocking me to the point where I couldn't breathe anymore. I was praying to God to get this man away from me because I was completely weak at that point, I couldn't resist any longer and I felt like I was going to faint and lose my conscience. He kept pushing himself on top of me as he was trying to take off my clothes. He broke my finger and beat me in the stomach, tied my hands behind my back. I couldn't move away from him or fight him off. That's when I knew that he was going to kill me. I thought it was the end of my life. I never prayed so much, I was never this scared for my own life. I have no idea how this other man appeared and saved me at the worst point as I was already giving up on my own life...
I am telling this story because I am not the only woman who faces these kind of abuse in this country and it is terrifying to know that women go missing all the time and they never get found... I could have been a victim of this and I am still shaking in terror from what had happened to me.
Friends and family, I will appreciate any kind of help that anyone can get for me. I have no documents or any money to get out of this country and I am completely stuck. I also got extremely sick and have no funds to go to the hospital to get checked or get any kind of medications or food. My body and my mind are in complete shock and pain and I know this will take some time for me to recover. I know there are good people out here and I will keep asking around for help and searching for my stuff. Praying that this will be over soon and I can make it back home in one peace...
Thanks everyone so much for your help, caring and understanding
