This is a really hard thing to ask for right now but we need some help. Our guy Larry became suddenly sick last week. It started with what we thought was just a swollen tonsil but then rapidly evolved into a few nights at his regular vet and now to an emergency veterinary hospital. At first it was ok- the vet bill and stay was a hit but it was manageable. But now, he’s been at the hospital since Wednesday night and are now discussing moving Larry to a critical care unit at another facility. They think they finally have a diagnosis; an auto immune disorder called Protein Losing Nephropathy but it could also be cancer which can only be ruled out with further testing of his kidneys and GI tract. He’s not out of the woods yet but has been responding to some treatments which is good news.

 

The bad news is that his bill has gone up exponentially since he arrived and we’re already over 10k and that’s before moving him to another facility and before any of the ongoing medication or treatments he may need. We’re really hoping that Larry can stabilize and have a quality life with us for some more time but this is all completely overwhelming at this point and obviously unexpected. He’s been there for us through everything and even laid with Kristina every single day of her bed rest and not giving him the best care and opportunity to overcome what he’s going through right now isn’t an option. Larry’s a huge part of our family and we’d do anything for him.

 

We’re just hoping for a little help to try and offset the cost of his care. It’s been a huge shock to us and with Emma, Kristina on maternity leave, and daycare starting in another 2 months, we are just completely overwhelmed right now.
