Over the last week my sister Amy gave birth to her beautiful and healthy baby son Paolo. She was administered a C-section due to concerns for the baby's health, but unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances Amy's body has reacted badly, and she is currently unconscious and on life-support in a hospital in Merida, Mexico - where she lives with her wonderful family.
Hospital and medical costs are reaching unsustainable levels, and the plan now is to move her from the private hospital where she is currently being treated into a public hospital where the costs are much lower. In order to arrange this a downpayment must be made to the private hospital for the treatment thus far.
It seems unthinkable to many of us who grew up under the NHS to have to consider these kinds of arrangements, but this is the situation Amy finds herself in. We are looking to raise £5000 to help with medical and living costs for her family as well as to help move her to a more sustainable facility.
Anyone who knows Amy will know that she is a fiercely devoted mother and daughter who lives for her family and her faith. Any money you can spare will be greatly appreciated and will go towards her care and to support her children Alessia, emiliano, maxi and Paolo.
