On what should have been the exciting start of a new chapter in our lives, disaster struck.

Just a matter of hours after receiving the keys to our new home, a devastating fire broke out. Thankfully, nobody was inside at the time and, most importantly, our family is safe. We are especially grateful that our baby was not in the house when the fire occurred.

While the structure of the house remains standing, the damage inside is extensive. The entire kitchen has been destroyed, and the rest of the property has suffered severe smoke damage. Almost everything inside has been affected and much of it is beyond repair.

The house now needs significant work before it can become a home again. Carpets need removing and replacing, walls and ceilings need redecorating, and much of the interior will need to be stripped back and rebuilt.

Along with the damage to the property, we have lost many of our belongings, including beds, furniture, clothing, electronics, household essentials, my laptop containing years of work and personal files, my smartwatch, games console, and countless other items that made up our daily lives.

Unfortunately, because we had only received the keys a few hours before the fire, we had not yet been able to arrange home insurance. This means we currently have no financial support available to help us recover from these losses.

As difficult as it is to ask, we are turning to the kindness of family, friends, and even complete strangers for help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a genuine difference. If enough people are able to donate even a few pounds, it will help us begin rebuilding our home and replacing the essentials we have lost.

Funds raised will be used to:

• Replace essential household items and furniture

• Purchase beds and basic living necessities

• Replace clothing and personal belongings

• Help restore the smoke-damaged property

• Replace essential electronics needed for work and daily life

• Support the costs of making the house safe and habitable again
