Help Georgie Get Urgent Endometriosis Surgery

My name is Ralf Wileman and I am fundraising for my sister Georgie.




Georgie has suffered from an extreme case of Endometriosis since the age of 13, after six surgeries and five years since her last, we believe the disease has returned. With over a year waiting list for surgery with the NHS, I am attempting to raise funds for this urgent procedure privately and relieve her of the extreme pain she suffers from on a daily basis. 




Georgie has been a beacon of light for so many others who suffer from Endometriosis. With so little general knowledge and awareness on this disease in the medical field and the public, victims of it more often than not feel misunderstood, unheard and completely alone. Left with nothing but mind numbing pain.




As a talented photographer and director, Georgie has shed much needed light on the realities of living with Endometriosis and the work that needs to be done to educate and raise awareness on the disease that effects 1 in 10 people born with a uterus.




With her powerful photographic series ‘THIS IS ENDOMETRIOSIS’, the #thisisendometriosis social awareness campaign, and now a documentary film under the same title, Georgie continues to be an incredible advocate on a global scale for so many who need one.




Due to this debilitating condition, Georgie is currently using a walking stick or a wheelchair and is finding it challenging to take care of herself and live independently. Unable to work and struggling to leave the house, she is living on benefits in government housing and depends on friends and family to help with simple day to day tasks.

 

I am reaching out to anyone who might be able to help her book the surgery she desperately needs with a well respected endometriosis excision surgeon, a specialist in the field.




The funds would cover:

Initial Surgeon Consult (recoup costs) - £300


Excision surgery - £9,000
Self Propelled Wheelchair: £150

GoFundMe Fee's and Deductions: Estimated £400

 

In telling her story, Georgie has done so much to give a voice to those who feel they have none. Your help would bring us closer to ensuring her next chapter is brighter.

If our financial goal is exceeded, additional funds will be donated to Cori Smith. Cori is a trans man with endometriosis living in the United States who is also crowd funding for support. Cori was featured in Georgie’s THIS IS ENDOMETRIOSIS photographic project, in her social campaign, and his photograph also appears in the THIS IS ENDOMETRIOSIS film. Cori has also been a subject for Georgie’s other photographic stories, including To Thy Own Self Be True, Trans Lives in America and Boys Do Cry, Suicide and Depression in Men.
