Four years ago parents in the low-income neighborhood of Humboldt Park, Chicago came together with the dream of providing Montessori education for their children and neighborhood families, regardless of income. Our mission is to equip families to face the pressures of urban life and provide the educational start young children need to become creative and innovative people in the world.
Montessori education is a unique, hands-on approach to learning which is often available for families who can afford private school. Our private school will offer full and partial scholarships to two-thirds of our students.
Currently we offer classes for young children and their parents, and 50% of the children attend the class free of charge. We work closely with the local public schools to promote Montessori education and provide parent-child classes that prepare public school children to enter kindergarten.
While continuing these classes and programs, we are ready to start our own preschool! After several years of searching, we are thrilled to now have this building surrounded by mature trees and a natural place for the children to run and play - a rare treasure in the city!
School opens in September! We are raising these funds for our capital campaign in order to complete our building construction on time. Humboldt Park Montessori is so grateful for the support of our community and friends around the world to build this haven for early childhood education in the heart of the city.
