After striving to become a nurse since she was a little girl, Alicia got accepted into the Nursing Program at Point Loma Nazarene University right out of high school. After her father passed away 3 months before graduation, moving away was no longer a feasible option. Unwilling to give up this dream, she continued on with school at COS to hopefully enter into the RN Program after finishing her prerequisites. After missing the cut the first time around, she reapplied and was accepted onto the “waiting list”, to later find out that she wasn’t selected yet again. Determined to make a life for herself she continued to work 60+ hours a week between two jobs in order to make ends meet. With a small amount of money she had saved, she was able to buy a house earlier this year decided to shift her focus and work as hard as she can until the next opportunity opened itself up. On Thursday, August 8th, she got a call from the COS Nursing program saying she was accepted on a last minute decision. The program starts August 17th, so needless to say, she is now faced with an extremely difficult decision as money has become very limited with the new house and new obligations. The program costs nearly $10,000 after books and supplies and we believe where there is a will, there is a way. Lets join together and help launch her towards her dream.
