Funeral Expenses for David Cohen

Hi, my name is Katie Woods and my boyfriend is Christopher Cohen. Unfortunately, Chris and his little brother Justin lost their father to cancer in 2016 when they were only 13 and 8. August 29th, will mark 6 years since his death.

Recently, the three of us made the trip to Staten Island where Dave is buried. This was the first time the boys had been able to visit their father which turned out to be devastating and disappointing. We searched for over an hour, going down every row through every section. When we finally found their father, there was no headstone, plaque or marker of any kind. They were crushed that we only had a patch of grass to visit. I later looked into why this had happened and found out that there is an outstanding balance due. They had no idea that the funeral was never paid for, and they still don’t.

With most of that side of the family gone, I’ve decided to try to cover these expenses or set up a payment plan through fundraising so that their father is better honored than a 6 year old temporary marker and is easier for his sons to locate him. Anything helps and is very much appreciated. I’m doing this on my own as a surprise to Christopher and Justin, in hopes that their next visit to their father is more pleasant.
