My Aunty Rose has been ill for the last two years.  She had a terrible flu which attacked her vital organs and brought her immunity down and left her with an auto immune disorder. 
She had been in and out of hospital all of 2018 in excruciating pain from head to toe and has to be on several medications covering many symptoms like pain, swelling, circulatory issues, loss of kidney function, blood pressure, achy bones and muscles, nausea, dehydration, low energy levels, vertigo, decreased mobility resulting in a loss of quality of life.  Finally in December 2018 she was diagnosed with Granulomatosis with Polyangitis and stage 5 level of kidney function.  Which means her kidneys are shutting down and there is no hope unless she has a kidney transplant.  The focus after those specific diagnoses was then immediate treatment for the auto-immune disorder. In January 2019 she began an intravenous drug Cyclophosphamide three times per week until April 2019.  Then she was on a chemo-therapy type treatment which did not give the results we were hoping for.  The diagnosis came too late for these particular treatments to take effect.  Then she began dialysis at the hospital in May 2019 and is now able to be at home on dialysis through each night 10pm to 6am  until her transplant occurs(A big Thank you to the Kidney Foundation!!! )The transplant could potentially be sometime in April 2020. A suitable donor is still a great concern as well!  Until then, there are several steps to be taken in order to be prepared for the transplant.  My Aunt and Uncle are concerned about upcoming expenses related to the costly but necessary dental exams and work that needs to be done( a requirement for pre-transplant). 
Other costs such as respite, transportation to and from hospital, meals, parking, accommodation, loss of hours of work, complications requiring extended stays in hospital for them and the potential donor.
These funds will assist them and the potential donor greatly as they are on a fixed income.
