Jon's Final Arrangements

Hello Carol Paquet here. Last Oct Jon started having real bad sinus problems and sore throat we figured it was Jon's sinusitis which he's had most of his adult life but he continued getting worse nothing was helping by January a lump started to debelope in Jon's throat (neck) I finally convinced him to go to ER but that didn't work out so well I got him into our general practitioner who referred us to a specialist because Jon couldn't eat or drink the specialist admitted Jon into the hospital right away he was down to 130 lbs and was severely dehydrated. March 1st his first night in the hospital was scarey in the morning the nurses said they were surprised he made it through the night because they thought the tumor had gotten so big it was covering his voice box and thought it may cover his windpipe. March 2nd they did a tracheostomy so Jon could breathe during the tracheostomy they did a biopsy of the tumor. March 3rd they did another surgery to put in a Peg tube (feeding tube) so he could get nutrients. Our goal was to get Jon strong enough for surgery to remove the tumor, well the biopsy came back positive for cancer.
Jon will have to endure 5 to 7 months of radiation and chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and kill the cancer before he can have surgery and save his voice box. We have a long tough road ahead of us but we are fighting back hard together. I am now Jon's full time nurse taking care of his tracheostomy and feeding tube.
Anyone who knows Jon knows he is a "good ole boy" and knows he would do anything to help anyone who asked him he has done so much for many and our community. Jon hasn't been able to work for a few months now and all of our resources are depleted we are asking for donations for our out of pocket expenses our insurance doesnt cover, as well as, our Mission Hope Cancer Center treatment and trips back and forth to UCLA . Jon needs treatment right away.
Thank you so much to all who have already reached out to check on us. We are so grateful to everyone for their help.
