Jackson & Baby Koch's endeavors

As many of you know, Jackson was diagnosed with type I diabetes in September. While he has been a trooper throughout this process, it breaks our hearts that he is going to have to go through life living as a diabetic. As you also may know, we are expecting another little one in February! We are very excited to welcome our little girl into our family.
Since hearing of Jackson's diagnosis and announcing our pregnancy, many people have not only asked us what they can do to help Jackson, but if we are going to be having a shower or if we need anything for baby girl. To be honest, we could really use your support. There are two huge things that we are saving for, one of which is very time sensitive. We are in contact with an organization to obtain a service dog for Jackson. This dog will alert us when Jackson's blood sugars are either too high or low, to ensure that he stays safe.
The second piece, and the blessing in obtaining his diagnosis when we did, is to bank the cord blood and tissue when our little girl is born. There are substantial fees associated with this service, however the benefits have the potential to be immeasurable. Both Jackson's and my doctors are on the board for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). As such, they are privy to information pertaining to a lot of the latest research. In our discussions, we believe that research is on the brink of utilizing the stem cells from cord blood and tissue to cure diabetes. It is already capable of healing a plethora of ailments (including leukemia), but we are most excited about this potential discovery with diabetes! If it comes to fruition, the cells contained in the cord blood would not only have the potential to cure Jackson and myself of diabetes, but would be there for baby girl (god forbid) if she ever needs it.
So if you were one of those individuals that asked what you could do or what we may need for Jackson or the baby, please consider donating to this very important fund. Every penny literally counts, and could truly change our lives.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for your unconditional love and support.
