Fundraiser for King's College Hospital
For my birthday this year I would like to raise money for Kings College Hospital Charity. Any amount, no matter how big or small that you can donate would be so appreciated as I know it would go to the most incredible cause. Recently this hospital has played an extremely important role in my family's life. After spending every day in the Liver Intensive Care Unit (the only one of its kind in Europe) for nearly 7 weeks, I have seen firsthand the most the incredible care of all the nurses, doctors, consultants, surgeons and support staff who have saved my dad's life.
Kings College Hospital's pioneering approach in this field, sets the standard of liver treatment worldwide and their innovative research helps to save the lives of those who suffer from this terribly cruel disease - a disease of which I think there is very little awareness, support and funding.
The liver has over 2000 functions and is an extremely complex organ therefore every patient's condition is totally unique to them. The staff who work in this environment are so talented, have to work extremely long hours, and deal with traumatic situations every day, during which they remain professional. I am in awe of every person who works here.
As well as hopefully raising money to support this cause I would also like to encourage everyone to sign up to be an organ donor (link is below) as this is the most incredible gift any one of us can give.
We will never be able to thank Kings College enough for what they have done for our family, but I would love to be able to raise some money to donate to this amazing hospital that has helped keep our family together.
