Howl at the Moon Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Howl at the Moon Bar and Grill is located in the Bronx, NY. It is owned and operated by Bobby and Liz Kajtazi.
A few blocks away from Fordham University and just around the corner from Arthur Avenue, Howl is a place that brings locals and college students together. Whether you are there for wing specials on Wednesday or dancing away on a Saturday night, you will find people of all ages, races, religions, backgrounds, and genders together with smiles on their faces.
Although Howl was struck financially by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bobby and Liz used their resources to make over 1,000 lunches to give away to children in the Bronx for free. During this time, they also spent their savings by making renovations so that Howl could be at its best when it reopened. We believe these actions speak to the selflessness and compassion of Bobby and Liz, who are so invested and passionate about the community that they have built through their business.
On Tuesday, June 2nd, following recent protests, Howl at the Moon was broken into, vandalized, and looted. While the cost of the inventory stolen and damages are immense, any amount of money you can donate will go directly to the reopening of this family-run business that continues to serve and employ to POC.
We kindly ask you to please share this page with family and friends, and all donations are more than appreciated.
With much appreciation,
Justin Eng and Vanessa Loo (friends of the family)
UPDATE (6/4):
It has come to our attention that there have been concerns about the validity of this fundraiser because we did not initially provide any photos or videos of the damage. Bobby and Liz wanted to keep photos and videos off of social media to protect their privacy as this is a crime scene. We wanted to respect the sensitivity of this matter, as they work so hard to keep this business afloat. Bobby and Liz never asked us to create this GoFundMe. We never intended for there to be any controversy whatsoever. We only had good intentions to raise money to cover some of the damages, as this place has given so much to the Fordham community. As some of you may have seen, Bobby went live on Howl’s Instagram to show the damages. Additionally, the family has provided us with some photos (see below). Thank you to all who donated and have shared this story with their friends and family. Bobby and Liz are so incredibly humbled and grateful for all the positive support over the past day. We hope to see you all back at Howl soon, much love.
