Howie’s surgery fund
Donation protected
My poor little Howie isn’t quite two years old yet, but has been in and out of the vet constantly for the past few months.
We finally have an answer, but it isn’t an inexpensive one. The little guy has a shunt that diverts blood to bypass his liver, causing liver failure and toxins in his blood.
Its possible that this could be entirely fixed with surgery (95% success rate), however in order to make a surgical plan he will need several expensive pre-op tests, including a >2,000 dollar CT scan. Without surgery, prognosis is not good, and many dogs don’t make it past their third birthday.
Thankfully, I’ve been able to cover his costs so far because I have pet insurance, but even my 30% copay has put a significant financial stress on me, particularly in my first year practicing as a CDA.
I would be forever grateful for any small support friends and family may be able to offer in order to get Howie his surgery. I could not have made it through living alone during a pandemic without my very best friend, and my heart breaks thinking about the potential that I may not be able to provide the care he needs. I am still covered by insurance, but even a few dollars to help cover the copay would make a world of difference.
