Howard University Senior Thesis - CROWNED

Hello! My name is Maya Thurston. I’m a senior TV & Film major at Howard University. I’m the producer of CROWNED, a film by Alana McClellan, for our senior thesis at Howard University.

CROWNED, a short film is a political drama that follows an HBCU alum, Justice. After landing the job of her dreams as a fashion brand executive, Justice Stevens discovers that one of her most cherished characteristics may be holding her back from her career...her hair. The film pulls focus to the CROWN ACT that works to end discrimination against race-based hairstyles - cornrows, braids, locs, twists, and other natural looks.
