Howard Needs Surgery

Tax deductible

Howard came to Madison Cat Project from a shelter in Illinois.

When he arrived, he was so starved for attention! He's a friendly, sweet and playful cat, but his ears are deformed and crumpled, and prone to infection.

It's likely that he had a bad ear infection when he was younger, and as that progressed, it caused his ears to shrivel up. That created a nice warm, moist space with minimal airflow, perfect for bacteria to grow and lead to the deep ear infection that he has.

We've tried to work with Howard and do everything we can to help him without surgery, but after months of cleaning his ears and trying different things, it's clear he needs this surgery.

The cartilage in his ears won't ever return to normal, so the surgery that he's having is needed to clear out all the infected tissue and make sure it doesn't come back.

The surgery and associated costs will likely be around $2500.  He'll spend the night at the hospital where the procedure is being done, and then will be in foster for the rest of his recovery.

We're asking our supporters for help with his surgery costs. Every dollar you give toward the procedure will make it easier for us to continue to give cats like Howard the extra special care they need.

We will post updates on Howard and how his surgery and recovery is going so you can keep tabs on him! His surgery is scheduled for 1/31/19.
