About The Film
This is the first feature film of my career and is based on real experiences of myself and people I know (hopefully they won't mind too much!). We've managed to secure a fantastic, passionate cast who are excited to bring their own experiences to the project. We also have a brilliant crew who are working hard behind the scenes to make sure this project is the best it can be!
The film itself follows two people who start to connect after a night together. We explore two viewpoints, the one who is reluctant to get hurt again and the one who is eager to start again. They talk about everything under the sun, they laugh and open up, they have awkward first time moments and eventually the question of will they, won't they, should they? Is answered.
The Team
James (Director/Writer)
A filmmaker based in Glasgow, after earning a BA(hons) from Edinburgh Napier during the pandemic, James has made short film, documentaries, music videos and was a Glasgow Film Festival new talent mentee.
I love films with two people. Some people find them boring and say ‘nothing is happening’ but from a young age I was watching films like Before Sunrise, Sleuth, Hell in the pacific. Genre’s could change but I'd recognise this format in how the film was performed with basically 2 people. Something intimate can happen in a film about two characters going back and forth for 90 minutes. These types of films are very character driven, which allow you to really get to know someone.
HTML appeals to people who enjoy long conversations, people who are romantic at heart, people who are realists yet hopeful, people who try to be honest with themselves and what they want in a relationship.
Coming to this project is like building a complete identity for the people we are telling the story about. We have to know these characters in depth and it's been a rewarding project to be involved with so far.
Jade (Lead/Writer)
I am one of the co-writers and actor in the film. I've been writing for most of my life as well as acting in various short films. My character is a woman who is running from her past mistakes, but has lost more than counted on. She arrives in a new city determined to forget, but meets someone she feels differently about, it sets off an inner turmoil and questioning about her choices that she wasn't quite ready for.
Over the years, I have worked on a variety of projects, including short films, plays and a little radio!
I'm excited to make the step into feature film and working on something that challenges me in a different way. I think the film represents our ideas of love and hurt and everything that comes with: the fear of moving on and the pain of staying put.
Jamie (Lead)
I play a man who has been broken by love in the past, but refuses to give up on the idea that it's something that can be attained. He finds someone he doesn't want to lose, but fears history will repeat itself.
I've done a lot of short films and plays, but now I'm looking forward to making the next step into feature films. My main role is making sure Jade and Jim get along!
What I like about the project is that there's something within each character that I think everyone can relate to. We've all been in one or both of those situations.
How The Funds Will Be Used
The funds we raise will mainly be put towards a festival run; we hope to enter into the top festivals such as Toronto, Sundance and BFI London Film Festival, as well as some local ones to Scotland, including Glasgow Film Festival.
We we also be able to compensate everyone who works on the project if we reach our target.
