How far can I go?

Mental illness is a terrible and prevelant affliction. That can come about abruptly or insidiously, slowly consuming a person. But there is hope. Now more than ever people are being encouraged to speak up about their woes and mental health. But those experiencing diminished mental health can find it difficult to speak out, to admit that they need help; for to admit that we need help is difficult for even those of us that are considered in good health; it is easier to rettain the facade that we are fine and everything is ok, and we can manage on our own. Consider how few people enjoy public speaking. Now consider having to announce somewhat publicly that you are finding life to be difficult, perhaps a daunting ask?
To enable people that may find it difficult to speak up about their state of mental health, it is imperative that mental health services are accessible, so people can seek out assistance in a less public way, if they so desire.
Such as the mental health care plan, of which I have utilitised myself, which was invaluable in stunting the mental health decline that I was personally experiencing, and lessened the sense of solitary burden.
For an initiative such as the mental health care plan and others, as well as promoting awareness towards mental health, I am seeking donations.
I have signed up for a fun run that has an indeterminate distance, and commences on the 22nd April. The fun run is about how far you can run in 24 hours. I intend to see how far I can run continously, with less than a month's training.
This short time frame presents me with a sense of adversity, something that those who are experiencing mental ill health are more than likely to be familiar with, whether that adversity takes form in attempting to will yourself out of bed.
The running course is a matter of how many laps you can run around an athletics track; it is far from a stimulating and entertaining concept.
Faced with little time for training, and a monotonous run, I am placing a large expectation on my own good mental health for how far I can run.
I request for those who are considering to donate to pledge a donation of $1 for every kilometre I run; or any other donations would be hugely appreciated. To be honest the furthest I've ever run is 16km, and that was a one off.
All donations will go to the Mental Health Foundation of Australia (Victoria), the oldest mental health organisation in Australia, which is part of the national and international mental health movement. It focuses on providing support and education to mental health clinicians, clients, and the client's family and friends. Mental Health Foundation of Australia (Victoria) is also involved with working with the government regarding mental health. Mental Health Foundation of Australia (Victoria) "primary emphasis is on promoting good mental health and the means to maintain it".
I appreciate any donations that can be made.
I have had mental illness, and I wish to give back to the services that supported me, and insure that they remain and improve for the sake of others.
Your donation is an agreeance to helping promote mental health, and provide funding to an organisation that is determined to assist those who are experiencing mental ill health.
Thanks
Aidan
