Thanks for visting my GoFundMe page! This page is dedicated to raising funds for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s 2015 Junior Lamb & Goat Auction.
This is my first year to join as a member of the Lamb & Goat Auction Committee. Growing up in Houston, I’ve participated as a guest of the Houston Rodeo since I was a little girl, and for the past two seasons I have been introduced to the committee structure of this hugely successful event. Although many enjoy the great lineup of music artists, the rodeo is much more than a concert at the end of the night. It is the support of volunteers and sponsors which keeps the heart of the rodeo alive – the livestock shows, auctions, and competitive rodeo events.
The purpose of the Lamb & Goat Auction Committee is to pre-sell all ribbon-winning junior lambs and goats at a floor price above current market prices. In addition, L&G assists with the auction itself. These juniors work tirelessly all year long preparing for shows, and the financial costs are not small. The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is their “superbowl” of shows, and many work to earn a college scholarship in this field. Lamb & Goat Auction Committee is dedicated to these kids. Last year’s auction succeeded in raising over $2.5 million for Texas juniors, the most in the history of the HLS&R. And we want to do it again in 2015. Therefore, I have a goal to contribute $5000 through donations and purchase commitments. Although it will be a challenge, I know that I can reach this goal with your support!
This GoFundMe account was created for your convenience, and no amount is too small. And, if you are interested in making an even bigger impact, please be assured that you can always mail a check (payable to HLSR) or request to be invoiced later. No matter how you help, your donation is completely tax deductible. And there are some really great buyer incentives too:
• For donations of $500, you get meat package – this includes 16 chops, 2 racks, 2 lbs ground, and 1 leg.
• Donations $500-$999 includes 1 meat package AND an invitation to the Auction Breakfast & Auction itself
• Donations $1000-1999 includes 1 meat package, AND an invitation to Auction Breakfast & Auction AND 2 tickets to the Ram’s Club BBQ Cook-Off Tent
• Donations $2000+ includes 1 meat package AND an invitation to Auction Breakfast & Auction AND 2 tickets to the Ram’s Club BBQ Cook-Off Tent AND an invitation to next year’s Buyer’s Appreciation Party!!!
In addition, I can raise money through in-kind donations (gift cards, event tickets, baskets, donation of service) to be sold at a silent auction. For example, if you have season tickets to a sports team but can’t make one of the games, I can be “credited” for the face value of the tickets. Also, please do not underestimate the power of employer donations or matching. ALL donations are 100% tax deductible!
