Housing Support for Black Femme Artist
Hi, my name is Andrine Bell. I'm 18yrs old & currently living in Jamaica Plain. I'm a teaching artist & performer from Cambridge, MA. I decided to move out on my own to protect my safety & mental well being. I've struggled with depression my whole life and it came to a point were I had to make the decision to leave home.
I am a queer, black, first generation Haitian-American femme that is struggling right now to make rent.
The Starbucks location that I'd been working at part-time shut down. I've spoken to managers from different locations and each one has failed to follow through with me on shifts they promised to give me. I applied for regular & pandemic unemployment assistance and was denied, after months of fighting for an appeals I've got nowhere on the unemployment front.
I live in a communal home with 5 awesome POC who've supported me even while they've gone through their own difficulties, and with their support my mental health has improved but I am still in need of outside support to be able to make rent for the next few months while I continue to apply for other jobs.
The amount I am trying to raise will cover two months of rent.
