Housing Scam and Roommate Left-We can't pay rent!

UPDATE(2/22) We found a new place but due to the deposit and some crossover for the month of April between leaving our current apartment, we had to raise the goal a bit to cover costs. Thank you to everyone who has been donating!! It means the WORLD to us!

Hey there- My name is Viera, and last month, my and my fiance Brighton's roommate (who we didn't know hadn't signed the lease) suddenly left with only 5 days warning, and at the same time, we were scammed out of $500 through a housing scam. My bank and the police haven't been able to get us our money back, and we are now put in the position where we need to pay for our ex-roommate's rent and utilities, PLUS find a new apartment within our budget, which is very difficult to do when we're down $500. We also have a very sweet service dog, Sypha, who needs prescription meds on top of her basic food needs, so we need to pay for her care as well.

This is the last thing we want to do, but we need to ask for help. Any donation to help keep us in our home until we can find somewhere to live would be amazing. We're both artists, and would love to provide some work to those who donate larger sums! (AloeViera and Brightworm Studio)
