Housing for my dad’s Stem Cell Procedure
Donation protected
This GoFundMe account is being set up for my dad, Dempsey Paul Baslee. In December 2018 he was diagnosed with an aggressive type of Multiple Myeloma cancer. He has been receiving Chemotherapy treatments for the last five months. In June he had an appointment with a doctor at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and was told at that time he is a good candidate for a Stem Cell Transplant. The doctors say Multiple Myeloma is not curable but a Stem Cell Transplant has proven to be a good treatment to hold off the cancer at least 10 years or more. My dad’s insurance will cover his treatment but he lives in Kennewick, WA and he has to go to Seattle for the treatment for 3-4 months. Although my mom was told in June that his housing would be covered by insurance, it turns it will not be covered. He has an appointment on July 25th to start treatment. At that time he has to secure housing within a 30 minute drive to the hospital. He is at the top of the list to stay at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance House and is also on the waiting list for Pete Gross House. SCCA House is $75 a night payable up front and can be paid by the week. So $9,500 will cover his housing only during his treatments. He will have 1 or more appointments every day, 5-6 days a week for 3-4 months. My mom and dad can afford the cost of food, gas and other expenses but can’t afford the housing they thought would be covered by insurance. Every little bit helps and they appreciate your help!!!!
