Housing for Kenny Butler
Donation protected
My brother, Kenny Butler, was recently diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Degeneration (more information about his condition can be found on the Association for Fronto-Temporal Degeneration: www.theaftd.org). Which manifests as shrinkage and nerve damage to the frontal and temporal regions of his brain, causing drastic changes in his social conduct, judgment, empathy, emotions, hygiene, and foresight; which will continue. He will gradually lose the ability to communicate and walk and gradually FTD will take his life. He is 41 years old. There are no known treatments and no known causes. FTD has caused him to lose his job, his family and his home. He spent months on the street, homeless, before his medical condition was diagnosed.
Kenny was married to his wife for 18 years, they have four beautiful children. He has always worked to support his family and is a proud father. He hasn't been able to see his children since May, but speaks of them all of the time. He tells me every day that he misses his family. He constantly tells stories about the great things his kids are doing. In June, my sisters and our families, were able to bring him back to Reno, Nevada where he grew up. Since that time we have been able to get him medical treatment and finally, a diagnosis.
He is kind and loving and appreciative of all the help he gets. He is still able to be friends and enjoy time with people, so taking time to go and visit him would be great. We want to house him and allow him to live a life of dignity and respect and most of all we want him to know he is loved and not alone.
