Rosa's Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Dearest Community,
As many of you already know, our sweet Rosa needs to have open heart surgery to repair a hole between the two atria of her heart (Atrial Septal Defect or ASD). Her surgery is scheduled for July 12th at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. This is an incredibly stressful & tender time for our family, and many of your have asked how you can be of support. Here are some ways you can help:
1) Send us your healing prayers and thoughts. Please hold space and light a candle for all of us on her long pre-op day of July 11th and her surgery day of July 12th. Visions of the best possible outcome, a seamless medical team (surgeon is Dr. Hanley), and a smooth recovery are all appreciated. We are to arrive at the hospital at 6am on July 12th, and her surgery is set to begin at 7:30am that day. Emily's mom, Flavia, will be flying in from Massachusetts to support during Rosa's hospital stay, so please also include her in your thoughts & prayers.
2) Sign up for our MealTrain, and give us the gift of your home cooking while we focus on Rosa's recovery after we are home from the hospital. The best way for friends & family living out of the area to gift us with a meal would be to make a contribution to our GoFundMe, as we live out of delivery range for local restaurants. We will also use those funds to purchase meals during the hospital stay. PLEASE EMAIL our dear friend Erin Chen <[email redacted]> to be added to the MealTrain.
3) Make a financial contribution on this GoFundMe site to help us cover the mounting costs of the surgery, housing, meals, being out of work, and supporting Rosa in her 8 week recovery period. You'll note that we set the campaign goal as $1--we are not trying to raise a specific amount, but rather welcome any support you feel inspired to give, with absolutely no pressure.
So many of you have already stepped up in countless ways: offering prayers, blessing us with song, hospital stay preparations, and giving your gifts of bodywork, art, or deep listening. We are so grateful!
We want to be clear that we put out these requests for support with zero pressure and ask that you only contribute if it truly feels good to you.
Thank you all for holding us through this challenging time. We are so blessed to have each and every one of you in our lives!
Love,
Emily, Erik & Rosa
