Dear Housepitality SF Wednesday night community:
We are proud to say that we have never missed a single Wednesday night over the past 9 1/2 years. It has taken an epidemic like this to stop us from opening our doors or even considering a live stream from F8. It is important that we follow the "Shelter in Place" rules so avoid this virus from spreading any further. This way we can get back to rocking the dance floor on Wednesday nights sooner.
old information, posted as soon as we went into lockdown... we thought it was going to be only one month:( - (This situation is hitting the crew behind this production pretty hard. It takes a small village to put on this weekly event. Our profile picture only shows part of our crew. We are 12 in total including our door managers. A few of us have 'regular jobs' and are still employed but most of us are contractors or full time service industry folks who are deeply financially affected by this sudden shift. It's really eye opening and scary how fast our income streams disappeared.
We need your financial support now more than ever to help relieve our staff from the extreme high cost of living of San Francisco during the next 3-4 weeks that we are under Shelter In Place orders. What we plan to do with this money is divide it evenly between all of us who are most affected. We have already identified the ones that are hardest hit from the situation. We know this money will mostly help to relieve us from upcoming March rent, other bills and maybe extra for food to get thru this hardship.
We took the the approximate dollar value needed to survive this period for the items mentioned above and divided it between the number of individuals who are most in distressed right now. That is how we calculated a $10k ask from our community. We really hope this process is only three weeks long and we can get back to business after this.
We also plan on giving a due portion to our regular F8 Wednesday night staff who also heavily depend on this weekly paycheck. Our host F8 Nightclub has their own separate GoFundMe to help their entire staff which you can also help out if you'd be so willing: https://www.gofundme.com/f/f8-staff-fundraiser-for-daily-expenses )
Guys - it is now July and are more than half way thru our goal. Since this started we were able to help some of our crew and staff get thru the times, eventually people got unemployment or got jobs. We are now in a situation where clearly this isn't going to end in 2020. We have been redefining our entire model to be able to survive this and return to doing shows after. We launched www.twitch.tv/housepitality where we are hosting our shows every wed and soon we will have programing almost every day from different cities. Its exciting but A LOT of work.
We really want to finish this seed fund so we can have a cushion to work with. Our skeleton crew has been working super hard to pull this off every week and we need to compensate our crew and pay for some equipment costs. There are about 6 of us who work on this weekly. It turns out putting on a stream is almost as much work as a real event. Please support us. By helping us you are helping us to continue our mission to bring you the deepest midweek vibes and beyond. Help us rebuild our house on the internet really solid and when we can throw shows again, its going to be very special. It is really humbling to ask you all to help us during this time of need. We really appreciate your support and are extremely grateful for anything you can donate to this fund.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone again in person on a Wednesday night. We want to get back to bringing you the best underground dance music talent from around the globe to enjoy on Wednesdays. We are firm believers in our role in this city to keep the scene fresh in the middle of the week. The most important thing right now however, is that we take care of ourselves and each other somehow by following "Shelter In Place" rules. We want everyone to be healthy.
Thank you so much for your support.
