A homeless drifter who roams the streets of downtown Los Angeles breaks into the home of the girl he is stalking. Although, once he finds his way inside he discovers the house shelters not only her, but a harem of women and their guardian figure, a Monster. The drifter finds himself trapped in the house and before he knows it…loses his identity altogether!
Hello, we are three friends who have bonded over our shared love for horror films and the moviemaking process. Our film is independently produced by us three and we are looking for funding to make our visions become reality
About us:
Breanna Alarcon David
As a South Bay LA native, I’ve always been interested in the history and art of filmmaking. I knew I wanted to work in the film industry, but felt very alienated by the traditional Hollywood machine. I moved up to San Francisco for college where I learned more about the independent and experimental film scenes. I fell in love with analog media working with Super 8 and 16mm collage/direct animation filmmaking and I’m super excited to apply what I’ve learned to this project.
Dominic Marino
I’m a 24 year old audio engineer and filmmaker and I’ve been in love with movies since as far back as I can remember. I grew up in the Chicagoland area and attended Columbia College Chicago where I studied Audio Design with a focus on post-production sound for film. Since moving to LA, I have gotten involved in the film restoration industry where I have been fortunate enough to help preserve hundreds of films, from Hollywood classics to rarely seen B-movies and exploitation. My biggest goal in life is to produce the kinds of movies I would want to see and I believe this short film is the start to that lifelong creative journey.
Luke Wieten
I’ve been fascinated with film for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my neighborhood friends and I would shoot stop-motion films with action figures on our flip phones. I’ve held onto that fascination throughout the years and have applied it to my education and professional life. I graduated from Cal. State University of Long Beach in 2019 with a BA in Film & Electronic Arts (Theory & Practice, Editing specialization) and currently work in the digital media industry, onboarding thousands of films & TV shows to a variety of streaming platforms every year.
I believe that film can be an incredible catalyst for emotion. Film can make someone think and feel things that are unobtainable through other vehicles. The best and the worst of them bring people together and create communities. I strive to make movies that fit within these ideologies, and believe that this is the start of something great!
Why Super 8?
We decided to shoot on 8mm film because we all share a passion for analog media and its history. Super 8 revolutionized the home movie market and was an accessible way for people to get into filmmaking. In a world where film is obsolete and digital has become the industry standard, we want to bring back the Golden Age aesthetic by utilizing the tools that made it successful while also integrating modern filmmaking techniques.
Our target goal is $3000. With this amount we are able to cover:
- Film stock + the processing and scanning costs
- Location rental
- Props/costume
- Makeup + prosthetics
- Food and beverage for cast and crew
- Film festival entry fees for the 2024 season
Thank you for your time and consideration in reading our proposal, we have a long way to go but know we can get there with your help!
