Household Help for Lady

Friends & loved ones:

I know that many of you have heard of my Mom's cancer diagnosis.

She was diagnosed last September with stage 4 renal clear cell carcinoma.

A year prior to that, she had complained to her doctor of pain around her sciatic nerve. They took an image & told her she had injured her periformis muscle & that it would heal. She continued to work at her job, which she is passionate about. After a year with no improvement, she asked for another image & it was then that the cancer was discovered.

Although it was present in the first image, she was misdiagnosed, and in the year in between it had spread from the kidney to the bone. She worked that whole year, while the cancer grew. Upon this news, she very reluctantly resigned from a job she loves.

Our family has come together & been able to fill gaps & provide for Mom, but the time has come when Mom is okay with giving folks a way to help. You lovely people have been asking how to help for a while, but Mom didn't want to ask until she needed it.

She is very grateful to have received a grant from the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation that took care of a couple of months of rent for her. (Please, remember the Foundation in your annual gift giving...they do wonderful things for people.)

We have a plan for keeping Mom in her home & taken care of financially, but it could be 8-10 weeks before it goes through, and there's a couple months rent & bills between now and then.
