We are a couple and we have been drawing near to the end of our trip now, coming back to Colorado after a long six months on the road, living in our 2005 Dodge mini van and having the time of our lives. We had two big tupperwar containers strapped up onto the roof containing most of our earthly belongings, the rest, inside our lovley little cabin on wheels. There was our bed of course as well all of our food items and cooking, camping supplies, musical instuments, absolutley everything ...
Going south on highway 85 near Lexington, North Carolina we noticed a weird burning smell that seemed to be coming up through the vents of our poor ol Miss Daisy. Elijah pulled over and procided to check out the engine, within 10 minutes smoke was gushing out of the front of the van out of the vents and underneath the glove box. A moment after that we could see flame coming out from under the dash as we scrambled to get as much out as we could, Ebony, our canine baby was out first followed by two bags, the guitar and the ukulele, before our home turned in to a giant ball of flame on the side of the highway.
A couple had seen the smoke and pulled over, holding our shoulders as we were on the ground watching everything we owned burned down to smoldering blackless engulfed in flames. The firemen came and were very quick to put out the fire but nothing was salvagable. We were not able to save anything of value, all our money and identification gone and now no way to get back.
We dont know what the plan is now, but we have ideas. We will be trying to raise the money here for a new van/home. We want to get back to Colorado soon so we can get back to the jobs we left and start rebuilding again, its going to be difficult to get back on our feet but we will not let this bring us down. Any help would be a blessing to us and we would not forget it. Lets see what happens!
