House of the Moon Empowerment & Self-Defense
Did you know that Indigenous women are facing rates of rape, murder, and kid-napping for trafficking higher than any other demographic in North America? With House of the Moon, we are focused on doing everything in our power to support the women and communities who face this very real tragedy, otherwise known as Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls crisis (MMIWG).
That is why I'm asking you to join me and help us send 14 Indigenous women from the U.S. & Canada to the upcoming Empowerment and Self-Defense Facilitator Training program this Fall. This 16 week facilitator training offers Mental, Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Empowerment and Self-Defense tools and practices. Graduates earn a certificate of completion and are then eligible to hold Empowerment and Self-Defense gatherings in their own communities.
Let's not let this horrible tragedy continue on our watch without doing something about it! Join us and help us make this next training a huge success. Because empowered women empower communities!
The cost for one woman to take the training is $4,500. You can join with others to sponsor an Indigenous woman to take the training or make a partial donation of any amount and help make this next training possible.
Columbiana is our fiscal sponsor for your tax-deductible donation. We want to express our deep appreciation in advance for your contribution to this cause. Words are not enough, effective actions must be taken to protect and honor the Original Peoples of this Land.
