House of Suns started with a love of baking, a little home kitchen in the Blue Mountains, and a desire to create something of our own.

What began very simply has grown faster than I expected. Since Easter this year, House of Suns has gone from an idea I was working on at home to supplying local cafés, taking orders, and building a small community of people who have discovered and fallen in love with what I make.

And now I’m ready to take the next step.

I’m raising funds to help us purchase and fit out a small food truck that will become an extension of House of Suns.

The idea isn’t to become a market or festival food truck. It’s about creating possibilities.

The truck would allow me to offer coffee alongside our baking, open on more days when the opportunity is there, cater private functions and weddings, take on special events, and bring House of Suns to places where a home based bakery simply can’t.

It would give us the flexibility to grow without having to commit to one particular way of doing business.

And importantly, I don’t want to lose the part of House of Suns that makes it special in the first place.

The bakery will still be here, on our property in the Blue Mountains. I still want people to be able to come up, walk through the bush, sit down with a coffee and a piece of cake, and experience House of Suns here at home.

The truck simply gives us another way to share what we make.

It also opens up the possibility of doing more more desserts, more cakes, more coffee, more catering, and eventually more of the ideas I’ve had in my head but simply haven’t had the space or infrastructure to bring to life.

Everything will continue to be made by hand, in small batches, with the same care and attention that has always been at the heart of House of Suns.

For me, this isn’t about turning House of Suns into something big for the sake of being big.

It’s about creating something small, beautiful and sustainable; a business that can support our family, connect us with our community, celebrate where we come from, and give us the freedom to see where this little business can go.

What your support will help fund

The money raised will go towards purchasing and fitting out the truck, including:

• Commercial kitchen equipment

• Refrigeration

• Electrical and water systems

• Food-safe preparation and storage areas

• Council and regulatory requirements

• The practical fit-out needed to operate safely and legally

This is a big step for a small family business, and it’s one I can’t quite make on my own.
