House flood turns into a nightmare

Hello, my name is Kerry-Ann and my partner is Chris. We recently purchased a home, and unluckily had an ice storm in April that caused a major flood. The entire basement was destroyed and needs to be rebuilt. Our insurance covers some of those costs… while starting to rebuild, certain areas of the house kept flooding whenever it rained. So we hired professionals and a lawyer to determine the issue, and after a few examinations, it was determined that our French drains need to be replaced due to iron ochre deposits, which is not covered by insurance. What makes this finding surprising, is when the house was purchased, on the vendor’s declaration, iron ochre was said to be absent from our house… on top of all of that, it became known that our house when purchased was said to be stabilized (because we live in an area that has sinking issues) but in reality, was only half stabilized.

We are now faced with lawyer and professional fees, French drain and stabilization costs of over 50,000$. Plus our backyard has had to be destroyed in order for the external repair work to begin and a simple deck can cost upwards of 30,000$. Aside from the fact that our pool and grass will be gone as well.

We cannot even begin to repair our originally flooded and damaged basement because the external work has to be done first.

We are living in half of a house that we can’t afford to repair, and no one would want to purchase.

We need help! The bank has refused us the money we need to pay for this emergency work. We are not known to beg or even ask for help, but we don’t know where to turn to, so we are asking for your help, in any way you can.
