On May 23rd, my home caught fire. I lost everything—my roof, my dog grooming business, and my entire sense of stability. Since then, I’ve been living in a motel, barely making ends meet, selling off what little I had left just to keep a place to sleep.
Because I don’t have a safe or stable place, my kids are staying elsewhere with family. They’re safe and loved, but I can’t have them with me. That breaks me more than anything else. They visit when they can, and I hold onto that. But this isn’t the life I ever imagined.
I also lost someone I cared about deeply in March, and on top of that, my husband and I have now separated since the fire. It’s just me now—trying to survive, trying to rebuild, trying not to fall apart.
I’ve applied to jobs. I’m waiting. But I need help now—to keep a roof over my head, to stay off the street, and to have a chance at being present in my kids’ lives again. When I get a place, I can get back to grooming and finally start generating income again. The room I’m staying at is 475 a week :/ that’s cheap in the area that I live in. Not for my wallet though
If you can help, thank you. If you can share this, thank you even more. I never thought I’d be here, but here I am—still fighting.
