Mr. Pitts is not only a stand up and kind man, he is also a huge supporter and friend of Mobile Cat Society. You may remember some of our past kitties like Donnie, Marie, Sissie, Mercury, Magenta, Saint KiKi, and many more who have been adopted into wonderful homes. These beautiful happy endings are thanks to the big heart of Mr. Pitts.
That is why its is urgent that we come together now, in his time of need. Early this morning Mr. Pitts got a call that his house had suffered a fire. A neighbor noticed smoke coming from his home and by the time the fire department arrived, flames were coming from the door. The smoke and flames not only cause damage to his home, but also his heart. Being an animal advocate and local rescuer himself, the animals in his home were in immediate danger. Three of his elderly cats were able to escape, 10 were pulled out by fire rescue (3 of those being neonates with their mother), and 2 perished in the fire. Luckily the fire rescue workers were quick on their feet and formed an assembly line to get the 10 from the house immediate oxygen treatment and cooled down. Mr. Pitts brought the 10 cats and kittens to Highlands Veterinary Hospital for treatment, including oxygen therapy, antibiotics, eye ointment, etc. He was able to locate the three elderly cats as well, so we currently have 13 kitties receiving treatment and monitoring for smoke inhalation and fire exposure. Luckily, there are no burns to the skin, but the damage to their lungs is unknown.
Not only does Mr. Pitts have the stress of losing his home, for God knows how long, the stress of losing 2 of his beloved cats and the damage being done to the others, he has the stress of starting over. We are asking that the community come together to help Mr. Pitts recover from this damage. He will be displaced from his home, have medical bills for the animals, and have the cost of repairing his home, so any bit of help you can offer at this time of need would be so greatly appreciated.
We thank you, from the rescue community!
