Hello, my name is Kaitlin Hunt. I am currently trying to raise money for Ken and Debbie Peel who have endured a house fire on 12/21/2024. They live on a farm and have made their property into a traditional homestead. Ken works for a church and the station manager at WDLM. Debbie works for our local Kewanee Sale Barn, and works full time and a half on their homestead. They have put their heart and sole into their homestead off Osceola road in Kewanee. They offer farm to table products, farm animal products and a very friendly and welcoming customer service. As of right now a fire fighter has told Debbie the house is not structurally sound so it is not livable. Most of the 2nd story where all the bedrooms are endured the most fire damage so they have lost all of their clothes and bedroom furniture. The second floor is soaked in water so all history, photographs, furniture is completely ruined. Most of the basement is okay but still very wet with some damage.
How I know Debbie and Ken Peel: I had my my baby in 2021. She was our rainbow baby after a miscarriages, I was told that if I carried her for even an hour more we both would of died. I couldn't produce breastmilk, we tried 17 different types of formula and nothing work she had issue after issue and was losing weight after already being born the size of a preemie. I was introduced to Debbie who had Goats and Debbie and Ken offered to donate every ounce of needed goat milk if she could tolerate it and that is exactly what they did. For almost 9 months they continued to donate as much goat milk needed to feed my little one. They also donated goat milk soap for my little who had sensitive skin. They were a true blessing. I then had enough money to buy a goat ourselves for our little and Debbie taught me everything I needed to know for basic care, feeding, and safe milking practices in order for me to feed my little directly. When my little turned 3 we couldn't afford to keep the goat much longer Debbie donated a half gallon of cow milk to see if my little could now tolerate that and she did. So Now I am a permanent customer in buying cow milk and of course her farm fresh eggs. Debbie has also offered to help teach my homeschool kids some homestead opportunities and allow them to have some homestead science experiences. This couple is the most deserving of community help couple that I have ever known.
I know this time of year can be rough for the holidays and donations but please anything will help them during this time.
