House fire rebuild for Janice and Kerry Bower
Donation protected
On Feb. 27 My parents, Janice and Kerry Bower of Caramat had a chimney fire that spread into their attic leaving extensive damage to their home. Due to the great friends and community of Caramat, the fire was kept under control until the Greenstone FD could get to their house, however, anyone who has had a fire in their home knows that when the fire dept. comes, the water damage that comes with it is pretty extensive. They have to rebuild their entire main floor except their bedroom and bathroom. Due to the remote location of Caramat, house insurance is next to impossible to get. It was not from the lack of trying or to no fault of their own, they could not get insurance.
Janice and Kerry are both newly retired and starting over at this stage in life has been difficult for them to deal with as this damage has forced them out of their home while rebuilding. Being on a fixed income and their little bit of savings are quickly depleting and this is just the beginning of the rebuild.
There is a long list of repairs to be done, such as new rafters, roof, insulating the attic, ceilings, walls, electrical, chimney, siding, etc. This is where we have concluded that their friends, friends of friends, family and community and so on, can help them to get back on their feet and into their home.
Any help by donating, sharing and spreading the word would be greatly appreciated.
